Honey, I’m Home!

I’m having a tough time believing an entire week has gone by. For those of you that don’t know, I‘ve been away on a 7 day Carnival Cruise. It was a lovely vacation but I think I’d prefer 5 days. I got a little restless being at sea for so long. Sunday we arrived at the Galveston terminal to board the ship. We spent most of the day exploring the Carnival Conquest and visiting the different venues onboard.

I have to admit I wasn’t expecting to feel the boat rock so much. It was extremely noticeable the first night and I was freaking out! I eventually got used to it and the unsteady feeling disappeared. We spent two days at sea enjoying the daily indoor and outdoor activities. There were concerts, comedy shows, movies, swimming pools, a casino, karaoke, game shows, bingo, shops, photo shoots and tons of food!! The food selection was unbelievable! I have a separate post lined up to share all the amazing dishes they served. Once you view everything we ate you’ll understand why I need to return to my healthy lifestyle. They spoiled us silly! and I loved every minute of it.

Lying out by the pool has never felt so relaxing, staring out into the endless ocean. We found a secret tanning spot at the head of the boat where only a few chairs lined the deck. Unfortunately, after a couple days of sunbathing I developed a heat rash. :( This has never happened to me before so I was a little weirded out. Luckily, there was plenty of other entertainment onboard. I’m not the greatest dancer but I’m a huge Michael Jackson fan so I couldn’t resist attending a ‘Thriller Dance Class’. Dancing in front of a packed room isn’t something I would normally do but I somehow talked myself into it and I’m glad I did. #3 on my 23 before 24 list. There were quite a few bands performing around the ship. Our favorite was the Latin group. I’m pretty sure we followed them around since day one. My step-sister Stephanie, had a little crush.

Overall, my favorite night time event was the punch-liner comedy show. There were four different comedians on board throughout the trip. Their styles were diverse, keeping the shows new and fresh. Steph and I had a blast ordering from the drink menu. The names were corny but cute... 'kiss on the lips' was the prettiest and best tasting.

Our ship docked at 3 ports: Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Mexico.
I will be posting about each stop- beginning tomorrow. So stay tuned!!

  1. Cruises are so much fun. We went six years ago to the Mexican Riviera. I never felt the boat move, but maybe you got some choppy waters. Looks and sounds like you had tons of fun with your family. Can't wait to see more posts.
